About

Herewith, I offer up stories, poems, snippets of life lived, living now, and yet to live. Some stories that look and act like poems, some fiction, some non-fiction, but mostly unnamed hybrids that emerge from that mysterious place of “who knows where.”

You won’t find a lot of attention paid to writing genres or categories or labels. I am infinitely more fascinated with content than context. What you will find are seeds of truth, both personal and universal and everything in between. Truths that you already “know,” whether you “know” it or not. This, sprinkled with a keen appreciation for the absurdity of life, and its most potent antidote, humor!

My best hope is that my words might spark the recognition of what is real and true for your self and the world we are all creating.  ENJOY!
.

Veracity: The quality or character in persons of speaking or stating the truth. Also, conformity to accuracy or precision. Usage dates back to 1623. Synonyms: authenticity, credibility, honesty, trustworthiness. Oxford English Dictionary

  2. Hi Lola; it is very nice to meet you and read your About page. I, too, like to read that you favour content over context. My father’s side of the family all live in Ireland. I love to visit. We do have a little in common.

  3. Hi Lola, glad you stumbled upon one of my posts, the first story I read was very good and this about page I liked it very much, humour it is the best antidote. I often play with life´s struggless making them funny, quite therapeutic to write like that also. And what you said about the truth. Looking forward with more time to read more of your blog.

    1. Hi Charly – from what I’ve read of your posts, you express humor and honesty in a raw, yet almost casual, off-the-cuff way. It’s surprising and compelling. I’m eager to reading more.

      1. Thank you Lola, lately is humour, other times is falsh fiction, sometimes I get serious, it a variety really. If I stay writing the same theme for too long I get bored, so I mix it quite a bit. I got people actually commenting me “is that really you who wrote this?” When they see a serious post. The answer is yes, but you will see quite a bit of crazy nutty or funny things

    1. Oh, Sabine … you are so kind to me! Seriously. I thank you for this nomination. I haven’t read the information yet, but will do so today. This is the first time I’ve been nominated! In general, from what little I know, my stance is that it’s too much for me to take on. I’m so new at blogging, still learning every day – and just starting to write in a poetic way, almost manage to post something every day! I will look it over and get back to you on a yea or nay asap. I hope that’s okay. 🙂

      1. Whether you do it or not, the nomination is well deserved! I am getting better at doing the acceptance posts, but it is tedious . Also, there is no time limit! So if you don’t feel like it right now, you can always change your mind. I learned something new while working on it, placing a link within the text linking to one of my posts! That was cool! Keep writing!!!

  6. Oh I DO love veracity–and authenticity, and the genuine…..and the note about absurdity and humor….when I lose that, my boat starts sinking fast. Gorgeous blog you have here.

  7. There’s a certain veracity to be seen in those words!! 😉 Just as long as you’re having fun and I’m enjoying my visits I don’t care how truthful it all is… 😛

    1. And the same to you, bfffg. I so appreciate your comedic sensibilities. Every post, brilliant! Two faves: “a miserable life down the back of the couch” and, of course, Edith, the pin lady! Look forward to enjoying future posts. 🙂

  8. I can hear it now. The blue chair says to the yellow chair, “You look nice today. I really like that yellow dress. Did anyone ever tell you that you have great legs?”
“Thank you. And yes, I get that compliment all the time. I am glad you like the dress. I got it for a steal.”
    “I love bargain shoppers.”
Red chair to Blue, “You know you make me so angry. Here we have been going steady for two years and you don’t talk like that to me.”
Blue to Red, “That’s cause you are always mad at me.”

  9. You went and done it. You went and followed Uncle Bardie’s Stories & Such. You are now one of Uncle Bardie’s Band of Merry Followers. Just so you know, Uncle Bardie’s a hoot, and he’s got quite a few whoppers in his bag of stories. Some funny, some not so funny. But all told for your entertainment. Thank you for following his blog.

    1. Mon, thank you for asking! I’m not sure. I don’t really understand how it works, other than some bloggers accept and some don’t, and you answer a series of questions. Obviously, I need to get more info on this so I can answer your question. I will let you know!
