Punctuation! Or the Lack Thereof? + Acronyms.

In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “It’s a Text, Text, Text, Text World.”
How do you communicate differently online than in person, if at all? How do you communicate emotion and intent in a purely written medium?

My sister and I have been emailing each other every evening for the last 20 years. Just an informal “How was your day?” message to stay connected on the mundane level, since we live in different states. Over time we’ve organically developed a few “codes” to express levels of emotion, for example:
“I am upset.” upset!
upset!!  upset!!  upset!!!

TMI? I’m sorry! Just LOL or are you already LMSO or LOLPMP or LOOL or LOLROTF? If you’re LTHTT, I’m gonna sign off . . . LYLB!
